Overview
With the theme of “updating traditional Japanese culture,” a VR film was produced with Watanabe Section (Concent, Inc.), a production company specializing in VR films. As the subject of communication is shifting online due to the Corona disaster, we wondered if we could take a “modern approach” to express the value of traditional Japanese culture, especially the tea ceremony, which is rooted in real experience, and the cultural and spirituality rooted in the enjoyment of food, art, and communication in the extraordinary space of the tea ceremony room. One answer was “VR technology. One answer was VR technology. Using the concept of “phygital,” which combines conventional physical elements with digital elements using new technology, we sought to create a reality in which the solemn, tense, and extraordinary nature of the tea ceremony is preserved, and the viewer feels as if they are really participating in a tea ceremony. This film is currently being shown at numerous international film festivals.
